GUIDE TO CHOOSING THE BEST GRIPS
Grips are an essential accessory for any CrossFit athlete, as they minimize friction, protect your hands from developing calluses and wounds during intense exercises, provide better grip on equipment, and support the wrist, allowing you to perform more consecutive repetitions and maintain necessary strength.
To help you decide which grips are best for you, offering better efficiency during training and allowing you to optimize exercise completion time, we’ve developed a guide.
What to consider when choosing your grips?
Type of Training: Analyze the type of training you usually do. If you do a lot of bar exercises, such as pull-ups and muscle-ups, it’s essential to have wrist wraps that provide good hand protection.
Material and Durability: Opt for long-lasting materials that withstand training wear. Leather grips are typically an excellent choice due to their durability.
Grip and Comfort: Look for grips that offer a firm and comfortable grip. Check if they have any padding to protect the palms of your hands and reduce pressure during exercises.
Size and Fit: Make sure to measure your hands correctly and follow the size instructions for the grips you intend to purchase. Additionally, check if the grips have a secure adjustment system, such as Velcro, to ensure a personalized fit.
Purpose: Consider the ultimate goal of the grips. If you want extra protection during muscle-ups or prefer a feeling closer to the bar, there are different styles of grips available, such as 2 or 3 finger wraps, to meet your needs.
What size should you choose?
To determine the right size for you, the first step is to measure your hand. Measure the distance from the base of the wrist to the fingertips, leaving a small margin to ensure that the wrist wraps are not too tight and allow you to open your hand easily. The choice of size depends on the type of use you intend to make: if you want to use the grips in the most common way, inserting your fingers, you should choose the size corresponding to the exact measurement of your hand. If you prefer to have additional protection and don’t want to insert your fingers, you should choose a size above the one indicated in the table.

How to clean the grips?
To properly clean your wraps, start by removing any dirt or excess residue with a damp cloth. If they are very dirty, wash them gently with warm water and mild soap. Make sure to remove excess water and let them air dry naturally in a ventilated area away from direct sunlight. You should never put your wraps in the washing machine, as it may damage the material.
Washing them regularly after use will help keep them clean and fresh for your workouts.
